Our Green Policy

Virgin Trains' approach to corporate responsibility is not all about the train, or even the journey, it’s about people. Why they travel and how they travel. We strongly believe that rail has a clear role to play in sustainable transport. But we also have our impacts, from carbon emissions to air quality, and affordability to security. We’ re doing everything we can to minimise the negative, and accentuate the positive. We want to lead the charge to sustainable transport, and be seen to do so. We want to challenge assumptions, solve problems and deliver innovative solutions. A trip on Virgin Trains should be time well spent – productive, enjoyable, sustainable and available to all. Our corporate responsibility report lays out where we are on that journey. You'll find the following in our report...

  • our approach to sustainable development in rail,
  • our carbon footprint and plans to reduce it whilst increasing our energy efficiency,
  • our sustainable stations philosophy,
  • our safety and security targets,
  • our approach to sustainable sourcing of our onboard food,
  • our waste and recycling targets,
  • our employee engagement and empowerment programmes,
  • and our community work at home and abroad.
