1. What is a through fare?
The through fare is the result of a partnership between Eurostar and several UK train operating companies to allow passengers to travel from any of 68 UK stations to dozens of Continental destinations paying just one fare for the entire journey. Once you reach London, your Eurostar journey will start at our fantastic new terminal at St Pancras International, which has superb connectivity with a host of National Rail and London Underground lines.
2. When can I travel?
From mid-November. Sales open on 14 November.
3. How can I book?
From mid-December 2007 through fares will be available at www.eurostar.com. At this point you will be able to book, collect your National Rail, Eurostar and TGV tickets from self-service ticket machines and travel - all on the same day. If you wish to book today, please call our Contact Centre on 08705 186186. When choosing your date of travel, please allow time for the tickets to be posted to your home address. This should take no more than 3-5 working days but we'd recommend that you allow longer if possible.
4. How do I find out about prices?
From mid-December 2007, you will be able to see what prices are available yourself as you book online. However, if you wish to get a quote today you can call our Contact Centre on 08705 186186. They'll be able to help plan your itinerary and advise you fully of the fares available on different services.
5. Where can I travel from?
You can book to travel from one of 68 stations across the UK all the way to your European destination (and back if you are making a return journey). For example, you could travel all the way from Peterborough to Paris, Manchester to Marseille or even Aberdeen to Avignon, paying just one fare in each instance. If your local station is not one of those listed you would need to pay separate fares for travel between your home station and St Pancras International and travel to the Continent via Eurostar. Through fare travel to Europe will be available from more and more stations as time progresses so keep checking our website for updates. You can find out which UK stations will be participating in the scheme from 14 November by checking out our Travel Information. Alternatively, you can call a member of our Contact Centre team for advice if your station is not yet included in the through fare scheme.
6. Which destinations can I travel to?
There's a huge choice! As well as Paris, Brussels and Lille, there are daily services direct to the gates of the magical Disneyland Resort Paris as well as seasonal services to the beautiful Provence town of Avignon and the French Alps during the ski season. Additionally, you can travel to dozens of provincial destinations all over France and Belgium by connecting with the TGV network at Lille or Paris and local services in Brussels. In each instance, you only need to pay one fare for your entire journey. For more information check out our Destinations guides or alternatively call a member of our Contact Centre on 08705 186186.
7. How many tickets will I receive?
Each passenger will receive a ticket for each direction of the National Rail leg of the journey, a ticket for each direction of the Eurostar leg of the journey and, when travelling to a Continental destination via connecting TGV services from Paris and Lille, a ticket for each leg of the TGV journey. If you need to change in Brussels to reach your final destination, please remember that your Eurostar tickets are valid to any Belgian station and you can use them on local services to and from Brussels Midi station within 24 hours of your Eurostar journey (in each direction). However, provided you are travelling to any of these destinations from one of the 68 UK stations currently participating in the through fare scheme you will still only need to pay one fare for your entire journey.
8. How do I receive my tickets?
If you book online (from mid-December 2007) you will be sent an e-mail following your booking which will provide you with two reference codes; the first should be used to collect your National Rail tickets from self-service ticket machines at a participating National Rail station, the second should be used to collect your Eurostar tickets (and your connecting TGV tickets if necessary) from the e-ticketing machines at St Pancras International. However, if you wish to book today you can do so via our Contact Centre on 08705 186186. Once you've booked via our Contact Centre you will receive the National Rail and Eurostar tickets (and TGV tickets if necessary) by mail.
9. Who do I contact if I need to change my ticket before travel?
You should call 08705 186186 and a member of the Contact Centre team will help you reschedule any part of your itinerary (subject to fare conditions). Please check the applicable fare conditions when purchasing tickets.
10. How do I get transfer between National Rail services and Eurostar services from St Pancras International?
There are a number of ways:
- From King's Cross or St Pancras
If you are transferring to or from St Pancras or King's Cross, simply follow the signs to St Pancras International, it's a very short walk.
- From Euston
If you are connecting from Euston, you can either take a one-stop ride on the London Underground, a short cab ride or a 10-minute walk along the Euston Road if you'd rather stretch your legs.
- From any other National Rail terminal in London
We recommend that you transfer by Tube. St Pancras International is connected to 6 London Underground lines, more than any other station in the capital! Your National Rail ticket is valid for transfers between your most convenient National Rail terminal in London and St Pancras International in each direction.
From mid-December, if you book online, the National Rail tickets you'll need to collect from self-service ticket machines at a National Rail station can be used to pass through the automatic barriers at Tube stations.
If you wish to book now you can do so from 14 November via our Contact Centre. You'll receive your tickets by mail and you'll simply need to show your National Rail ticket to a member of London Underground staff to pass through the manual ticket barriers at Tube stations.
Please note the following conditions:
- The validity of through fare tickets on the Tube is limited to the transfer between St Pancras International and your most convenient National Rail terminal in London (in both directions if you are making a return journey).
- Your tickets are not valid for transfers between Waterloo and St Pancras International on the London Underground.
- Your tickets are not valid for transfers to and from Paris Nord station on local RER or Métro services in Paris.
11. What if I miss my Eurostar / National Rail journey as a result of delay?
If you miss your Eurostar service as a result of delays or cancellations to your National Rail service on your outbound journey you will be placed on the next available service to your Continental destination at no extra charge. Similarly, should you miss your National Rail service as a result of delays or cancellations to Eurostar services during your return journey you will be accommodated at no extra charge on the next available National Rail service to your UK destination.
