Group-e Terms & Conditions

  1. Group-e discount is only available on Advance tickets purchased online at www.virgintrains.co.uk/tickets-offers/group-travel/. This discount is not available at the call centre, station or on-board.
  2. The discount will only apply for 3-9 adults booking in a group and travelling together.
  3. Tickets are valid on Virgin Trains routes and services only.
  4. Seats must be booked by 23:59 one day before travel and are subject to availablity.
  5. The first 2 passengers in the group will pay the full Advance fare without any discount. For the third to ninth passengers inclusive, a discount of 10% on the Advance fares will apply.
  6. Only applies to adult fares. Children can be a part of the group however they will not receive a 10% discount and will be charged at the normal child fare.
  7. Groups must have at least 3 adults in the party to qualify for the discount.
  8. No additional Railcard discount or other offers/promotions apply.
  9. Tickets are non-refundable and no change of journey is allowed.
  10. Breaks in journey are not allowed.
  11. Seat reservations are compulsory and travel must be made on the date & services specified on the ticket.
  12. Dedicated Advance fares are subject to availability on Virgin Trains only.

School Group Terms & Conditions

  1. Who is entitled to travel on a School Group fare?

    Teachers and pupils from any registered school in the United Kingdom. There must be at least 20 people in the group, with a maximum of 50. There cannot be more than 10 adults and children must be under 18 at the time of travel.

  2. How do schools book the new School Group fares?

    Schools must call Group Travel on 0844 556 5622, Please note all tickets must be booked and paid for in full a minimum of 7 days prior to travel. When making the booking, the following 7 digit numbers that are unique to each school must be quoted by the customer:
    School in England - DFE number
    School in Scotland - SEED number
    School in Wales - Registered school number

  3. Are seat reservations compulsory?

    Yes.

  4. Are refunds available?

    Yes, see table below -

  5. Are Virgin School Group tickets valid on other TOC's services?

    No, travel is only valid on Virgin Trains and on the date and service specified on the ticket.

  6. Can changes be made to travel plans?

    Any changes to time or date of travel or group size will incur a £10 change of booking fee per ticket and any difference between the fares and is subject to fare availability on the alternative departures.

  7. How can schools pay?

    Payments can be made by BACS/CHAPS, valid credit or debit cards, or by cheque made payable to 'West Coast Trains Ltd'.

  8. Are these tickets available in Standard and First class?

    No, they are only available in Standard class.

  9. Is the Virgin School Group a single fare?

    No, it is a return.
