Pendolino performance

Period 0902 performance was significantly worse than last period with 80.8% of services arriving at destination within 10 minutes of booked time, and 94.8% of services operating. Morning Business Train performance was also down on last period, with 79.4% of business trains arriving at Euston within 10 minutes of booked time. The major causes of disruption in the period were Infrastructure failures affecting the West Coast Mainline between London and Rugby. Signalling cable, control systems (Points and Axle Counters) and overhead line failures caused major disruption on a number of days, in particular 6,7,8, 13, 15 and 19 May where PPM was below 75%.

Delays and Cancellations due to Virgin's own performance remain low with further improvement seen in the reliability of our train sets through close working with our train maintenance providers, Alstom and Bombardier for the Pendolino and Voyager trains'. We remain committed engaging with all industry partners to deliver our Joint Performance Improvement Plan to assist in minimising disruption to customers. We continue to support Network Rail as they continue deliver the infrastructure upgrade works and to manage the network, and external impact on it, such as fatalities and copper theft.
