  • 20:31 London Euston to Preston

    Routes:

    • London & West Midlands - North West & Scotland

    Date: Saturday 16 May

    What is happening?

    Improvements to Britain's railway, will be taking place between Warrington Bank Quay and Wigan North Western. 

    Alternative route:

    The 20.31 London Euston to Preston service will terminate at Crewe.

    Advice:

    Rail replacement coaches will depart from Crewe at 22:45 calling at Warrington Bank Quay, Wigan North Western and Preston. 

  • Rail Replacement Coaches - Carlisle - Glasgow Central

    Routes:

    • London & West Midlands - North West & Scotland

    Date: From Saturday 16 May until Sunday 17 May

    What is happening?

    Improvements to Britain's railway, will be taking place in the Motherwell area.

    Alternative route:

    There will be a very limited through service, with diversions via Dumfries, on the London Euston to Glasgow Central route.


    London Euston to Glasgow Central direct route, will operate in both directions between London Euston and Preston only.


    London Euston to Glasgow central via the West Midlands route, will operate in both directions between London Euston and Carlisle.

    Advice:

    Rail replacement coaches will operate in both directions between Carlisle and Glasgow Central.


    On Saturday 16 May only, there will be a late night rail replacement coaches from:


    Crewe at 22:45 calling at Warrington Bank Quay, Wigan North Western and Preston


    Preston at 20:50 calling at Lancaster, Oxenholme Lake District, Penrith North Lakes and Carlisle.    

  • Rail Replacement Coaches - Carlisle - Glasgow Central

    Routes:

    • London & West Midlands - North West & Scotland

    Date: From Saturday 09 May until Sunday 10 May

    What is happening?

    Improvements to Britain's railway, will be taking place between Carstaires and Motherwell.

    Alternative route:

    There will be a very limited through service, with diversions via Dumfries, on the London Euston to Glasgow Central route.


    London Euston to Glasgow Central direct route, will operate in both directions between London Euston and Preston only.


    London Euston to Glasgow central via the West Midlands route, will operate in both directions between London Euston and Carlisle.

    Advice:

    Rail replacement coaches will operate in both directions between Carlisle and Glasgow Central.


    On Saturday 9 May only, there will be a late night rail replacement coach service from Preston, calling at Lancaster, Oxenholme Lake District, Penrith North Lakes and Carlisle.

    What is happening?

    Improvements to Britain’s railway’ will be taking place in the following areas:


    Milton Keynes Central to Rugby - Until midday on Monday 4 May.


    Carstairs to Motherwell - All day Monday, and until 04:40 on Tuesday 5 May. 

    Alternative route:

    Rail replacement coaches will be in operation between:


    Birmingham New Street - Wolverhampton.


    Carlisle - Glasgow Central.

    Advice:

    Until midday, train services between Milton Keynes Central and Rugby, will be diverted via Northampton, this will extend journey times.


    Train services between London Euston and Glasgow Central, will operate between London Euston and Carlisle only, with extended journey times (until midday) due to the diversion mentioned above. 


    Train services Birmingham New Street and Glasgow Central, will not run.


    Train services between Birmingham New Street and Edinburgh, will operate between Carlisle and Edinburgh only.

  • May Day Bank Holiday - Sunday

    Routes:

    What is happening?

    Improvements to Britain’s railway’ will be taking place in the following areas:


    Milton Keynes Central to Rugby - All day Sunday and until midday on Monday 4 May.


    Stafford - All day Sunday and until 05:30 on Monday 4 May.


    Crewe to Warrington Bank Quay - All day Sunday and until 05:00 on Monday 4 May. 


    Carlisle (Towards Penrith) - All day Sunday 3 May


    Carlisle to Lockerbie - All day Sunday 3 May.


    Carstairs to Motherwell - All day Sunday and Monday, and until 04:40 on Tuesday 5 May. 

    Alternative route:

    Rail replacement coaches will be in operation between:


    Birmingham New Street - Wolverhampton


    Wolverhampton - Stafford - Stoke-on-Trent


    Crewe - Runcorn


    Runcorn - Liverpool Lime St.


    Crewe - Warrington Bank Quay - Wigan North Western


    Penrith - Glasgow Central / Edinburgh.

    Advice:

    Train services between Milton Keynes Central and Rugby, will be diverted via Northampton, this will extend journey times.


    Train services between Birmingham New Street - Wolverhampton, and Wolverhampton - Stafford, will be replaced by road transfer. 


    With train services not being able to call at Stafford, services will be diverted by Alsager, this will extend journey times.


    Train services between Crewe and Warrington Bank Quay, will be diverted via Manchester Piccadilly, this will extend journey times. Trains will not be able to call at Warrington Bank Quay.


    One of our Manchester Piccadilly services (per hour) will start from / be extended to Liverpool Lime Street. These services will be unable to call at Runcorn, Crewe or Stafford.



    Train services between London Euston and Glasgow Central, will operate between London Euston and Penrith only, with extended journey times due to the diversions mentioned above. These services will also not call at Warrington Bank Quay.


    Train services between London Euston / Birmingham New Street and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh will not run.


    Shrewsbury services are withdrawn.


    North Wales services will operate between Crewe and Chester / Holyhead.

    Crewe to Warrington Bank Quay - From 13:00 on Saturday and until 05:00 on Monday 4 May. 


    Carlisle to Lockerbie - From 08:00 on Saturday and all day Sunday 3 May.

    Advice:

    From midday onwards, train services between Milton Keynes Central and Rugby, will be diverted via Northampton, this will extend journey times.

    From 13:00 onwards, train services between Crewe and Warrington Bank Quay, will be diverted via Manchester Piccadilly, this will extend journey times. Trains will not be able to call at Warrington Bank Quay.


    The last direct train service from London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street via Runcorn departs at 1107. The last direct train service from Liverpool Lime Street via Runcorn will depart at 1147. After these departures one of our Manchester Piccadilly services (per hour) will start from / be extended to Liverpool Lime Street. These services will be unable to call at Runcorn, Crewe or Stafford.


    Train services between London Euston and Glasgow Central, will operate between London Euston and Carlisle only, with extended journey times due to the diversions mentioned above. 


    Train services between London Euston / Birmingham New Street and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh will run between London Euston and Wolverhampton.


    Shrewsbury services are withdrawn.


    North Wales services will operate between Crewe and Chester / Holyhead.

    Improvements to Britain’s railway’ will be taking place in the following areas:


    London Euston to Watford Junction - All day Sunday and Monday.


    Milton Keynes Central to Rugby - Sunday until 22:05.  


    Crewe to Warrington Bank Quay - All day Sunday and  until 05:00 on Monday 6 April.


    Lancaster to Oxenholme Lake Districe - From 10:30 until 23:00 on Sunday.  


    Lockerbie to Gretna Green - All day Sunday and until 06:00 on Tuesday 7 April.   

    Alternative route:

    Rail replacement coaches will be in operation between:


    Crewe - Runcorn


    Runcorn - Liverpool Lime St.


    Crewe - Warrington Bank Quay - Wigan North Western


    Lancaster - Penrith North Lakes - Carlisle


    Lancaster - Oxenholme Lake District


    Carlisle - Lockerbie - Glasgow Central / Edinburgh

    Advice:

    Train services will start from / terminate at either Northampton / Rugby.


    Train services on the Rugby to Liverpool Lime Street route, will operate between Rugby and Crewe only. Onward travel to Runcorn or Liverpool LIme Street, will be by rail replacement coach.


    Train services than would normally run between Birmingham New Street and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh, will operate betwen Birmingham New Street and Lancaster. These services will be diverted en route via Chester and Warrington Bank Quay. 


    North Wales services will operate between Crewe and Chester / Holyhead.


    One service in each direction will operate between Carlisle and Glasgow Central, diverted via Dumfries.

    What is happening?

    The 05:25 Blackpool North to Crewe service, will start from Preston at booked time.

    Alternative route:

    Passengers from Blackpool North, Poulton-le-Fylde and Kirkham & Wesham, are advised to use Northern Rails 05:11 Blackpool North to York service, which will call additionally at Kirkham & Wesham.
