Improve your journey before you even leave the house with the Virgin Trains skill for Alexa. We’re pretty excited to be the first ever company that’s partnered up with Amazon Pay with Alexa, so now you can book tickets, check train times and find out about Virgin Trains, just by using the power of your voice. And a little bit of your brain.

With all sorts of handy features, and new ones being added all the time, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without this little train-loving robot.

What can Alexa do for you?

Book a ticket

Start your chat with Alexa by saying, “Ask Virgin Trains to book a ticket” and book a journey in a jiffy.

Speed up booking

For even speedier tickets, let Alexa know all your journey details at once. If you say, “Ask Virgin Trains to book a ticket from Manchester Piccadilly to Macclesfield on 24 July at 10am,” you’ll be there before you know it.

Check train times

We don’t want to tie you down. Which is why you can check train times for any train company across the UK, not just ours

How do I get the Virgin Trains skill?

As long as you have an Amazon Alexa-enabled device, like an Amazon Echo or Dot, then you can use our skill. Just follow the three steps below to get started. Lemon squeezy.

One: Install the skill

Online

Head to the Virgin Trains skill on the Amazon website and click ‘ENABLE’

In the app

Go to the ‘Skills’ section in your Amazon Alexa app, search for Virgin Trains, then select our skill and click ‘ENABLE’

Two: Enable payment

You’ll need to enable Amazon Pay so you can pay for things. Makes sense. Just head to ‘Settings’ within the Virgin Trains skill, click ‘Amazon Pay’ and ‘Manage Settings’, then flick the switch.

You’ll also need to have Voice Purchasing enabled. You can do this by going to the ‘Settings’ in the Alexa App and scrolling right to the bottom. Cheeky.

You can use the Virgin Trains skill without Amazon Pay enabled, but you won’t be able to buy any tickets.

Three: Get gabbing

Tell Alexa that it’s our skill you want by saying something like, “Alexa, open Virgin Trains,” and get started on booking that next adventure.
