At Virgin Trains, we’re always looking for fresh, new ways to enhance your travel experience.

We like to keep you informed about the different ways you can save on your train fare, and our price promise guarantee means we’ll always sort you out with a travel deal that can’t be beaten.

Any train service can get you from A to B, but we’re here to get you there in style. Our 125-mph Pendolino and Super Voyager trains will make your journey quicker, easier, and more enjoyable in every way. Our online journey planner is there to help you plan your travel timetable, and there’s a reserved seat guaranteed when you book online. We stay stocked up with refreshments too, in case you get peckish on board (expect rock star treatment if you’re travelling First Class!).

Introducing the new Uber service

What more could you ask for? Well, how about a taxi to take you to and from the station? Yes, that’s right. Now we can help you organise your onward journey too.

We’ve teamed up with Uber, the high-tech platform that offers taxi journeys through its dedicated app, to make door-to-door journeys even more seamless and stress-free. No more waiting around in the taxi queue once you’ve disembarked. Customers can now book the next stage of their journey in advance from the comfort of their home or reserved seat. And if you’ve never used Uber before, we’ll send you a link to download the app and automatically give you 50% off your first ride (up to the value of £10).

How does our new Uber service work?

When you book your ticket online with us, you’ll have the option to request an SMS reminder. This reminder will prompt you to book your Uber ahead of your trip and will include a link, so you can make your Uber car booking at the perfect time to catch your train or be collected at your destination station. We’ll also keep track of how long it takes to get to and from the station you’re heading to via live traffic updates. If you’re likely to get held up, we’ll send you the text early so you’ll always get there on time.

Is the service available on all our routes?

Following a successful trial period on journeys between London Euston and Birmingham New Street in the spring, we’ve now rolled this service out to all applicable stations including Euston, Manchester Piccadilly, Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International.

Do you need a particular ticket type to use this service?

Nope. The Uber option will appear for any Advanced ticket, whether you’re booking a single or return journey, and customers can now book an Uber for the return leg of their journey too.

How do I know where to catch my Uber?

You’ll make your booking via the Uber app, which suggests pick-up locations based on where other customers have been successfully collected in the past. These tend to be the places where it’s most convenient for your driver to stop. There’s an option to select a particular location if you prefer, though.

Planning your next trip soon? Use our Best Fare Finder now to secure the best-value seat. You can also get your Uber driver to take you to one of the great destinations outlined in our handy city guides.
