Easy - book your train tickets at virgintrains.com (take your pick from the desktop or mobile website) or via our app and enter your Nectar card number when prompted. You can also collect Nectar points via ticket machines located at Virgin Trains stations along the West Coast Mainline, simply swipe your Nectar card when promoted.
We’ll give you two Nectar points for every £1 of the ticket price, as long as your journey involves a Virgin Train along the West Coast Mainline (whether it's the whole journey or just part of it).
Do I have to enter my Nectar card number each time I buy tickets?
If you're booking through virgintrains.com or via our app, to collect points you’ll need to enter your Nectar card number each time you make a booking. If you're booking through a ticket machine you simply have to swipe your card when prompted.
What happens if the ticket machine does not recognise my card, what shall I do?
You have three attempts to swipe your card. If the machine fails to read your card there could be a problem with the magnetic strip on your card, or a problem with the card machine.
Can I collect points if I buy my ticket at a station or onboard a train?
Nectar points can only be collected with tickets bought online (through the desktop or mobile site), via our app or at any ticket machine in a Virgin Trains station located along the West Coast Mainline.
What can I collect points on?
This is the good bit. All journeys where you travel on a Virgin Train on the West Coast Mainline, whether for the whole journey or just part of it, are eligible for Nectar points. That means you'll receive Nectar points on your whole journey, even if only part of it is on a Virgin Train.
So we'll give you Nectar points for a journey between London and St Helens, even though only part of it (between London Euston and Wigan North Western) is on a Virgin Train. And in the same way, we'll give you Nectar points for a journey between London and Manchester, the whole of which is on a Virgin Train.
All you have to do is book your journey online (through the desktop or mobile site), via our app or at any ticket machine in a Virgin Trains station located along the West Coast Mainline.
What if I don’t have a Nectar card yet? Can I still collect points?
Afraid not – you’ll need a Nectar card to enter your number and collect your points. But it’s easy to pick one up from any branch of Sainsbury’s, BP or Homebase. Or you could
