There’s a whole host of interesting shopping opportunities to discover in Edinburgh, so we’ve narrowed it down to our 6 favourites.

Prince's Street

Prince's Street

It’s hard to think of a shopping street with a more impressive view than Prince’s Street, which not only has the Castle towering above it in the distance, but is also accompanied by a beautiful garden on the other side of the road. Shoppers can browse through Prince Street Gardens, the venue for seasonal markets including the Traditional German Christmas Market and Edinburgh Farmers’ Market.

Jenners

Jenners

This department store, now owned by House of Fraser, is a local shopping landmark. As well as departments selling furniture and designer tweed, it has an exceptional toy department. Your little ones surely won’t make a sound in protest as you enjoy this lovely store.

Homers

Homers

Homer is much more than just a homeware shop. Set in a Georgian townhouse, the furniture is arranged into five different rooms of the house (garden, library, bathroom, kitchen and living room) so you can visualise exactly where you might place your purchases. It sells Scot-Scandi contemporary furniture with (you guessed it!) tweed patterns woven in.

Mr Wood's Fossils

Mr Wood's Fossils

It’s well worth a saunter over to Mr Wood’s Fossil shop just to marvel at his amazing collection of fossils, minerals and meteorites. You don’t have to be a geology geek to appreciate the beauty of his internationally sourced fossils and the expertise of the staff working in the store. And, for the lover of all things geological, this has got to be the perfect gift shop!

21st Century Kilts

21st Century Kilts

If they’re good enough for Vin Diesel… these incredibly designed kilts have made this peculiar Scottish outfit as popular as ever. Owner and designer Howie Nicholsby describes his aims as “to give men throughout the world a realistic alternative to trousers” and we take off our tartan hat to him! You can book an appointment to get your own.
