Travelling with a furry friend? We’ve got you covered.

Here’s what you need to know about travelling on our trains with dogs, cats and other four-legged friends.

Dogs are allowed on Virgin Trains

Are dogs allowed on trains?

Yes, they are! When you travel with Virgin Trains, you can take up to two domestic pets with you for free. Every additional pet after that is £5 more, but the cost of travelling with your pet - priceless!.

Travelling with an assistance dog?

If you’re taking the train with an assistance dog or other assistance animals, we’re here to make sure you get all the help you need on your journey.

If you need assistance, let us know your travel plans in advance by booking your assisted travel online or giving us a call on 08000 158 123. We’ll keep personal information in our booking system for two years and share it with other Train Operating Companies and Network Rail so we know you’re taken care of even when you’re not on one of our trains.

Can I travel first class with my dog or other pet?

You sure can! Passengers with first-class train tickets are welcome to travel with assistance dogs and well-behaved dogs on leads. Other small animals can also travel in first-class comfort as long as they’re snugly contained in a carrier
